50 Cent-Wanksta

50 Cent is the rapper who almost wasn’t. He was shot nine times soon after the release of his first studio album. After recovering, he was (re)discovered by rap stars Eminem and Dr. Dre, who found greatness in 50 Cent’s 2002 release Guess Who’s Back? Wanksta earned its way onto the soundtrack for Eminem’s film, 8 Mile and signaled the beginning of 50 Cent’s unbelievable rise to the top of the rap genre. Wanksta was well produced, but still retains the roots of battle rap. 50 Cent denies that the titular Wanksta is his musical nemesis JaRule. Whoever its tart words are aimed at, the song proved a hit.
