Before becoming a tabloid superstar for his bizarre antics and many face-lifts, Michael Jackson was The King of Pop. His breakthrough hit came with “Billie Jean” from the Thriller album. Not only did Billie Jean’s energetic vocals and infectious loops earn Jackson seven weeks atop Billboard’s Hot Singles chart, the music video for the song dominated MTV’s play list and made Jackson the first African American performer to find stardom on the fledgling music channel. Billy Jean was one of Jackson’s most popular live songs as well. He displayed his trademark dance moves, like the sidewalk (sideways moon walk) during the song.
