Lynrd Skynyrd-Free Bird

In their storied career, Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd typified rock and roll. The band held on to their southern roots, but managed to create songs that have become known as some of their generation’s best. One of these is Free Bird. A slow, power anthem, it has often been put in the same category as Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.

Free Bird was released in 1974 as a single, and was not ranked highly on the charts. However, it received great reception when played live. It has been re-released and covered many times, and it was named by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 most influential songs of all time.
