Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes knew Kelis was going to be a star before the rest of the world did. The famed producers were finally able to convince the US with Milkshake, the first single off the New York-bred singer’s third album, Tasty. The song was huge worldwide. It’s quick, catchy beats, unique sound, and suggestive/ponderous lyrics earned Kelis airplay around the world. The song was number one on US dance charts and was in the top 25 on virtually every chart around the globe (including Brazil, Italy, Portugal, and Chile. Milkshake earned Kelis a Grammy nomination.
