Also known as The Don-Mega and born with the name O’Shea Jackson, Ice Cube has built a successful career as a songwriter, actor, screenwriter and film director. He is considered to be one of the greatest hip hop artists of all time, and began his career as a solo artist in the mid-80s. Ice Cube experienced most of his success during the mid-1990s, and helped build a strong following for gangsta rap, West Coast hip hop, and perhaps most importantly, political hip hop. A Los Angeles native, Ice Cube led several rap movements, and was most recognized for hit albums and movies including Lethal Injection; Laugh Now, Cry Later; and the movies Anaconda and XXX: State of the Union.
