Though he began his career with stage as the Canadian pop group Skylark, David Foster is best known as a producer and songwriter. He has composed songs and produced records for the likes of Celine Dion, Kenny Rodgers, Richard Marks, The Corrs, Kenny Loggins, and Madonna. Many fans remember him for St. Elmo’s Fire, the song from the famous film. It topped U.S. charts in the mid-1980s. Foster is not merely a recording industry star. He famously composed the theme song for the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1996 Summer Games. Recently, Foster has appeared as a guest judge on American Idol, and played an instrumental part in the reality show Popstars.
