Beastie Boys- Brass Monkey

Brass Monkey is one of the most popular songs of rap/punk band The Beastie Boys. The title refers to a particularly strong cocktail. Though it reached the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart, it did not fair well there. But, for Beastie Boys fans, the song typifies the band’s early work. Brass Monkey was released in 1987 as part of the groundbreaking License to Ill album. The Beastie Boys used layered beats and raps that seemed to be influenced by The Ramones more than Run DMC. As the band continues to move their music in new directions, Brass Monkey has become a classic.
